Mexican Independence Day!
I’m not talking about the movie you watched on the bus to Acapulco. Today is the 199th anniversary of the battle cry that started the Mexican War of Independence. September 16th is regarded as Mexican Independence Day.
To commemorate this holiday, the Current Comedy blog wants to celebrate the most famous meme that Mexico ever came up with.
It was just a regular March morning in Northern Mexico. Young Edgar decided to go on a hike with his cousin Fernando. Things were going fine, until they approached a small brook. Edgar begins to panic at the prospect of using branches as a makeshift bridge. Finally, Edgar conquers his fear and begins to cross the stream. Then Fernando does the unthinkable. See for yourself…

Billionaires for Wealthcare, healthcare advocates for the rich
Conversations about healthcare is headline news. The president’s moderate plan for healthcare reform, is radicalizing people who would normally stay at home to watch Fox News.
“Terri Hall, 45, of Starke, Fla., said she felt compelled to become political for the first time this year because she was upset by government spending”

The Tea Party Express is crossing the country to invoke the image of Obama as Hitler.

And the Billionaires have been spending time at the protests too.
The Billionaires for WealthCare are “a grassroots network of health insurance CEOs, industry lobbyists, talk-show hosts, and others profiting off of our broken health care system.”
With catchy slogans like “Let them eat Advil” and “Do no harm… to the bottom line” these not-for-real billionaires, are providing a counter argument to those who earnestly say things like “keep your government hands off my Medicare.”
This satirical guerrilla political theater, seems like a far more interesting way to engage the crazies, then the traditional protest. Perhaps by masquerading as a supporter of causes you don’t support, you can actually get more people motivated to change things.

The man who brought us “Eat it”, “Smells Like Nirvana”, and “Bedrock Anthem”, Weird Al Yankovic is teaming up with the SuperNews! team to present the collabo-jam!

Some cool pictures I’ve seen.
Funny People
Last night I went to see Funny People. The marketing campaign leading up to the film made me really excited to see the film.
Schwartzman as Funny People character Mark Taylor Jackson’s terrible sitcom Yo Teach! made me giggle.
Aziz Ansari as RAAAAAAAANDY! (”with eight a’s”) is probably the funniest video I’ve scene in months.
I knew that cast was going to be incredible. I’d heard the movie was going to be long though. Normally I hate long movies (I walked out of Lord of The Rings, because it got BORiiiing) but I figured it would be worth it for this movie.
