On a night far colder than it should’ve been, I stood outside of the UCB Theater in Chelsea after a screening of Mystery Team. Out there I interviewed the guys from Derrick Comedy prior to their being picked up for a city-by-city release in what would later become “The Paranormal Activity way.”
I interviewed them before, in less freezing conditions, for NYU’s Washington Square News. The premise around that consisted of how Derrick came together, watching them play Gears of War and then a slide into riffing about an idea featuring a barbershop quartet called “The Young Fuckables.” It was funny in context and I included it in the original interview. Prior to printing, the paper’s managing editor refused to run the quote or the term “Young Fuckables,” since she could hardly believe anyone would say that.
So, two years later, I present to you what we’re watching: The Young Fuckables!
