No, really.
In the history of the bizarre attempts to capitalize on past fame, Devin Ratray (whom you’ll be reminded constantly was “Buzz from Home Alone!!!“) is in love with Condoleezza Rice. He is then further encouraged by Sebastian Doggart (i.e. the actual director playing fake director) to express his love.
The “sexy trailer,” marked as such on the film’s website, is worth a smirk. But it’s the “full trailer” that showcases Doggart embracing his “maniacal director” self-parody when he demands Ratray strip “to show the nudity of your soul!”
To be fair, this is an intentional comedy meant to act asĀ a “companion film” to a more serious doc, American Faust: From Condi to Neo-Condi. But skimming over Courting’s awards leads to its’ own questions: it won Best Documentary at the Milan and Honolulu International Film Festivals. It also took home Best Narrative Feature at the White Sands International Film Festival and da Vinci Film Festival.
But this type of mock-doc does wonders on the name of a public figure; remember My Date With Drew? Vaguely? Good.
